This Thursday sees the end of our first month of Boot camp - it has moved along VERY quickly.

We will be tested to see how our fitness has improved since we began - we will be tested in Burpees, Push ups and squats to see how many of these we can do till failure, and then our timed 2.4km run. I am feeling much more confident on the run I have to say.

Update on the hot personal trainer. I saw him again yesterday - definitely cute. I am trying to work out a way to talk to him which wont embarrass me in front of the other Bootcampers, nor prove uncomfortable if my Gaydar is proving unreliable again.

I definitely want to talk to this guy.

I am really enjoying the feeds on facebook from DAILYJOCK and FOOTYBOYS

Luckily my day to day life is also full of eye candy that is more than purely mastabatory.

My gym in Sydney is full of hot guys, both straight and gay, and they provide great inspiration to achieve and maintain a healthy physique.

and boot camp is proving that we can achieve things we might not have previously thought possible.

As I type I am downing vitabrits pre boot camp, Thursday morning. Monday Boot camp, as we were finishing up, an other trainer rocked up adjacent to where we work out in the park Older guy - maybe 45. Grey Hair. Super tanned. amazing Physique. I kept glancing over trying to be discrete around my fellow boot campers. Soon I noticed him also checking ME out.

Hoping that he is there again today. might get his number :)

new friends (because lets face it - I will never get a boy friend, so i will always need my friends)

My Friend came over for dinner last night.

I had called up a bunch of people and organised a social event every night of the week, instead of going home and watching tv / sitting on line.

I figured, better stop this predictable gym/work/tv/sleep pattern which is not getting me any closer to a husband, and leaving me life deprived.

We met outside his building (I had to stop by the supermarket for provisions) and on the way he going on about a new blog he was reading called Wavey Davey http://www.breaktheillusion.com/

We had dinner (spag bog) at mine, and then my friend asked what books I had as he need some ting to read. I showed him a few and he finally settled on 'The Greatness Guide' by Robin Sharma - which I have talked about on this blog before.

When he left, I logged on to Wavey Davey. Oddly, the entry in the blog recalled a quote that appeared in another of Sharmas book - The Monk Who Sold his Ferrari', and which reflected exactly the sentiment of having dinner with my friend that night. I have copied part of that entry here, without Markies permission (but he copied it from somewhere else - I am sure he wont mind). Additionally, I cancelled my fb who was supposed to come around after dinner.

There’s a simple but powerful law of the universe that goes a little something like this:
“If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.”

If you want to experience any sort of change in your life, be it greater fulfillment, happiness or purpose, then you have to actively create change in your life by doing or seeing things differently.
.
If you want don’t want what you’ve always gotten, then don’t do what you’ve always done. If you want something new, do something different.

It’s a simple law that works every time.

And I feel like I had a real night, with my friend.

Finally, I have touched down in Sydney

I arrived late Friday afternoon and have just got home from a late Sunday night out on the town , playing up.

Friday night I was out for drinks and dinner with an old friend, celebrating his 40th Birthday with his flatmates and close friends. Awesome fun.

Then Saturday I went for breakfast (so damn good, so damn cheap) and then went to a number of 'home opens' to look at rental properties. So far - expensive AND small. I also went for a walk around the area checking out properties that WILL be having home opens just so I check out the neighbour hood, the vibe, local amenities, gym, supermarket, etc, and links for transport, etc for getting in to work.

Saturday night I hooked up with a guy off the net and his mate, also new to Sydney, and we went bar hopping. On the scene. But you have to once I guess. I need some straight friends.

Sunday Morning I went to the hotel gym, then for breakfast with the guys form Saturday night and a bunch of their friends. same cafe as I went to Saturday morning, by coincidence. Apparently i have my finger on the pulse :) and the weather - unbelievably awesome. I walked out of the hotel and in to the street with the biggest fucking smile on my face :)

Sunday afternoon I went to Bondi Junction, and straight to Hugo Boss, and picked up an AWESOME suit - charcoal, with hit and miss pin stripes, stone texture. Perfect for working with clients in my roll as uber Architect. Pink business short in Elvis cut from Marcs and pair of Oxford strip shorts cut just above the knee, to complete the package (no, not for work :) )

And here I am, about to hit the sack, thoroughly loving this city, my situation, and the beginning of something BIG!!!

We kick it all off in earnest tomorrow !!!

Inspiration

I have to admit that the last week in the office, with no one else in there, has been less than motivating, and I really have not achieved that much. Luckily everyone is back in tomorrow, and I will need to get a bit of work done today to make sure that everyone has work to do and we reach our deadlines.

In the gym, I need to get back on track also. God knows what happens when i get to Sydney and I no longer have my trainer to push me. no one to spot me. I know for inspiration I used to go to www.dudesnude.com and I think I will need to do that some more.

There are loads of photos of guys naked, with great gym physiques. A lot of guys also put stats up (including the most important 'muscle' of course) so you can see what height/weight they have achieved and see just whats possible, and what it can look like.

Despite what the website says, you CAN download pics (right click drag and drop) and I have created an 'inspiration' folder and named the files as the height and weight of the 'dude. You can also set your search engine to the sort of physique you like on a guy, and when you hit the 'my virtual hitlist' under 'quick search' you will get the hottest guys matching your criteria.

New Years 2009

New Years Eve is one of the Most Anticipated nights of the year. For many of as who aspire for better things, its an opportunity to reflect on short comings and mistakes made in the preceding 12 months, and resolve to do better in the course of the next year - the new years resolution.

Some even think that the night is so powerful, that the new year will start with a bang. Literally. A chance to meet the partner of their dreams, quit smoking, or turn over a huge leaf and become the person they rightfully are destined to become.

I personally hate new years eve and all the associated pressure and anticipation. The last couple of years I have partied on Miamis South Beach - Expensive parties (think $600 entry, ++) but well worth it, with celebs everywhere. and although these are definitely New Years Eve parties, they somehow just feel like great kick ass parties, minus the hype.

New Years Eve to me, is, literally the changing of one calender to the next. If i was to gauge a life changing event coinciding with new years, then I would actually celebrate it on January 16 - the day I relocate to Sydney. This is when the results of my positive thinking and goal setting is coming to fruition.

Paulo Coehlo, author of my favourite book of all time 'The Alchemist' , wrote in that book - If you truly want something with all your heart, the entire universe conspires in your favour'.

And the Universe IS conspiring.

The Job came to me with perfect timing. I sold my car 2 hours after I put it on line, and at an AMAZING price (OK they paid me 36 hours later, but called me 2 hours after I placed the ad), some one rang yesterday to find out if I was selling my Clothes dryer (I am), etc.

I am so excited. And I pray that If I keep living my life in this new, positive way, that I will continue to feel success. Professionally. Personally.

And I hope that all my friends and family, and those who read this blog also find their own little bit of success.

Dream Come True #1

About a Month or more ago, my social life was well and truly in the toilet. A few Saturdays in a row, I found myself at home, alone, watching bad TV. I was angry, and almost in tears.

I was angry with the lack of good friends of the calibre which I had enjoyed in Brisbane, the lack of good venues where a single guy can go out alone and party with other people, and angry that in a well paid job in Perth, I was left with barely ANY money to enjoy myself, after I paid for life's necessities.

As I have often done, I thought of throwing it all in and heading to somewhere random, and doing charity work, where scraping a few breadcrumbs together to party would be easy, since UNICEF or whoever would feed and house me and give me pocket money to get drunk with the locals on beetlenut juice.

And I dreamt of chucking in my career and pursuing something like, say, travel journalism. I can write ok, I take amazing photos, and I love to travel. I REALLY love to travel. So a job that involves travel would be prime. Right?

But then I got all sensible. Stick to what I know. There's a global recession / depression / economic melt down thing going on. Perth is boring, and its hard to make ends meet, but I actually HAVE a job, and I haven't been made redundant and I haven't had to take a pay cut. I guess I am all right - RIGHT?

So then I get a random email from our Sydney Office - 'Aren't you bored with Perth yet?'."We are suddenly inundated with a gesquillion projects and we need an enthusiastic, senior guy to help us run them - and that's you!' And three of them are in China, and you would have to TRAVEL and some are here in Sydney, and some are in Melbourne. And you would HAVE to live in Sydney, and work in Sydney, and TRAVEL.

But then I got even MORE sensible, and thought NO - I have a great apartment in Perth, and my sensible, safe little life with no risk, and being at head office where all the directors love me I can do no wrong. SAFE. And Sydney has been in the doldrums for ages and its not safe and its risky......

And so I rang B in New York, and he said - so if it all goes belly up in 6 months you have had 6 months of commuting to Shanghai. Do it.

And I rang H here in Perth, an she said - If you DONT go your an idiot and I will never talk to you again.

And my friend Carl was like - you have had a dozen amazing Apartemtns, you will get one in Sydney, too. GO!

And I though about it, and I thought about another 6 months of safe, and I thought about who I would meet in China, and the people, and the opportunities, and that China could be a stepping stone to something exciting, unkinwn, and unplanned.

And I thought about actually taking this little Sydney office and actually DOING something with it. Taking Control.

So I negotiated a package. Outrageously, and I got it all.

Dammit

Which Means Mid Jan when the next stage of my project goes out - I am off to a new life in Sydney.

I need to sell my car. terminate my lease. organise removalists, flights. A new apartment in Sydney. A new gym in Sydney. Yoga classes.

I need to work out what to wear to the party I am attending the nht I get to Sydney. Timing is EVERYTHING (thanks Adam)

What I don't need to do is get excited, cos that happened the minute I opened that Email.

Be careful what you wish for - cos it might just eventuate.

Dream Come True #2

After Dream # 1 Came through, I of course put my quest to find a boy friend, in Perth at least, on hold. However I still had a strong desire to 'have a boy friend' for my Birthday, and even Christmas and New Year.

During my 3 weeks or so of intense dating, only 1 guy got to date number 2. Adrian. If I had not got my transfer to Sydney, then I am sure Adrian and I would have become a couple of some sort. Not the love of my life, but certainly a couple. I made sure that I invited him to drinks the night before my birthday, in the hope that we would spend that night AND my birthday together. Unfortunately, it seems Adrian got the hates with me once he got wind of my transfer.

Being Christmas time, only about one third of the invitees showed up at the Brisbane Hotel (http://www.thebrisbanehotel.com.au/) for drinks. The fun third. I got there at 4, and when the first people arrived at just before 5 I was already on my third pint and feeling Very chatty. I ordered a bottle of Veuve for the girls, Pizzas for the gang, and a pint for the 20yo South African who recently joined our office. Suddenly it was competitive drinking hour and he challenged me to skull a pint of beer for $20. Clearly he knew nothing of a gay man's ability to master circular breathing. Easy. Out came the shooters - not sure the name - but vodka/tequila/bourbon. Being Birthday boy I was told that I had to have 3, they each had 1.

About this time I noticed S, the first guy I hooked up with in Perth, and for a time there, a steady fuk bud. He was with a group of guys and so I sauntered over to say hi. One guy there was full of smiles for me and VERY friendly, not to mention very attractive. After the niceties I pointed out where my group was, the girls waved back and I returned to them.

Meanwhile, Shaun, under the influence of alcohol, had taken on the role of 'social glue' - gathering a group of hot straight guys and their female companions in to our group. The girls were happy, we had a party going and everyone was buzzing. Apparently (I don't recall) I kept talking about the hot guy in the other group, and so the girls in my group manoeuvred our group back over to THAT group. By this stage, only the hot guy was left, and he had an entourage of pretty girls around him. He seemed as interested in me as I was in him.

My best girl friend H, the hot guy G, and one of the straight guys A grouped together and went bar hopping. By the third bar / club I had already heard enough come out of the mouth of G to suggest he was not keen on me and in fact thought that both H and I were aiming to hook up, but that he was keen to go home. So I was keen to dance, and get home by 1 (8 hours of drinking hardcore had taken it's toll) so that I could wake up fresh for my birthday.

H kept insisting he was keen. I told her I knew differently. then I got three very emotional text messages from DJ saying how he never really got over me leaving him to go to Perth, and so I had to go outside to digest that. I was nearly in tears and was going to make a quiet exit. However I decided to be fair to H, I would go back inside and say goodbye. By this time they were both way out the back in the dark of the club. I kissed her on the cheek good bye. And then him.

I am not sure how it happened, but suddenly my tongue was in his mouth, our hands all over each other. Long story short, he spent the night at my place. he saw me at my worst - waking up to a hideous hangover. He was lovely. Lovely to hold. Lovely to be held by. And passionate. And like a horned up 16 year old i bit him savagely - I have never seen so many live bites. It was obscene. I am still embarrassed.

I invited G to my Birthday Dinner party, in lieu of Adrian. It was a great night. My little Sister, My other girl friend F, my best friend R, H and me. He looked amazing. and the best thing he is only a year younger than me, not 10, not 20. ONE.

He wanted to go home, I convinced him to stay. My birthday dream came true.

G is a Perth boy who has lived in Sydney for the last 20 years. He has a successful business there. He is in Perth helping his sister to start her own business and flies back to Sydney one week a month to make sure the business is ok. When I heard he was living in Sydney I had hopes of..............

So G was my birthday dream come true. And I guess that's all he will ever be. But he has made me realise I can be attracted to and to want more from a guy close to my age - and that is probably more of a gift than the two nights we spent together.

We advertise our selves, being careful to promote our best features, yet edit out any aspects of ourselves which may limit our 'hits'.

Some guys have certain features which are difficult to hide, or which will eventually become clearly evident. So they are happy to show these features only so as to not waste the time of other peruses, and attract those who might be attracted to those features.

We had our Xmas work party yesterday, on board a boat on the Swan River here in Perth. This river is really underestimated, and really quite wide in places, easily rivaling Sydney Harbour in both size and beautty.

It was a good party, and we didn't get TOO drunk, bit there was definitely an air of sexual tension. I felt there was a couple of guys there, wanting to know what it would be like to be with a guy, and they and even a couple of girls were dabbling around the idea of hooking up.

One in particular has had my eye since I joined the office, and he even went so far to say that he was Bi curious, and was constantly flirting.

Shame I am his superior at work, or I would pursue this one for sure.

Missing in Action or Miami Florida??

The former, not the latter. Dave Evans gave me a virtual (online) kick to my backside today, asking had I given up on my Blog, since all my promised out pourings have not eventuated, and in fact my entries have all but dried up.

Truth is I am over worked and worn out, and its getting to the end of the work year.

More to the point, I have abandoned my dating agenda, on which I was going to diarise as I searched for the perfect Husband and/or fuckbuddy.

And the only good reason to abandon that mission is because work has finally got the projects and income stream to move me over to Sydney. Permanently. We have picked up three very interesting projects in China, and although based in Sydney, I will be spending at least one week a Month in Various locations there.

Naturally I will be re establishing myself there and once again setting of on the hunt for my Husband.

I had an interesting to-ing and fro-ing of emails at work today, with an interesting young guy who just moved here.

He sent several emails, giving some background to himself. Each in a mini essay.

Then he asked me to give him some info about myself.

Never one to compete in the same race, and being at work and busy, short of time, the following poured out in some sort of stream of conscience:

geez - now i really cant compete with that, can I?
6'3, 90k, 41 - born here
lived in London 1990 - 92
moved to cairns with an ex end of 2001 then down to brissie early 2002 and back here (Perth) mid 2007. apparently for 2 months but i am still here :)
i get up early during the week. quick yoga, then off to the gym.
big breakfast .
love food.
have a coffee machine and a plasma and I play music through that every morning (am i boring you yet?)
just bought a little outdoor setting for my courtyard and started having breakfast out there. lap top, brekky and coffee.
i go home for lunch most days. work lateish.
yoga tuesday nights. yay.
i am a lazy shit on the weekends. couch potato. sometimes beach. learning to surf. or was. given up for a while now.
i roller blade.
have a body board i should focus on.
just stuff i guess.
coffees and films (mainstream mostly) and i have 2 blogs. and i keep slipping there also.
i want to start designing and selling T shirts.
hmmm - i am enjoying this stream of thought stuff.

Why are we always amazed when we fuck up by repeatedly re enacting certain acts, habits or situations?

I am currently on the quest looking for Mr Right, but I can hardly be surprised that, when I slip up and go off with a random, I feel a certain sense of self loathing.

The dating is going reasonably well, and I need to put it up here so as to document the progress there.

While I remember, I should jot down, in order:
-the 22 yo sports medicine University student. six pac, tall dark and handsome, 'str8' and HOT, yet full of self loathing.
-the 20 yo tall dark Iranian Insurance broker (notice the trend?)
the completely hairless and bald, 6ft4 41 yo suit with the $5M house in Melbourne (apparently)
-the shorter, bald, medical equipment salesman (ex nurse/psych/ etc)
-the 32 yo wog boy, who owns a successful CD / DVD shop at the markets, and although sounding VERY masculine on the phone was as about as butch as Quentin Crisp
the tall 28 yo wog boi, whos idea of a date was watching tv on the sofa at his mum’s house, drinking a bottle of scotch his dad bought him (why go out, when you can drink at home for free) and - of course we can fuck here – I do it all the time – you wouldn’t be the first (geez – now I feel VERY special)

Equipment Failure

It can happen to you when you least expect it.

You never question its performance, and if one night, before or during use it fails to function normally, fails during use, or fails full stop, the very core of our man hood feels under threat.

In the same way that we are not defined by what we drive, we are not defined by the size or flatness of our TV.

However, the emptiness in our lives when our TV does not work or in fact we do not have a TV, can not be underestimated.

Last night watching TV a sharp static crack came out of my plasma. And then the image froze. And then the remote failed to work. And I panicked. was it dead dead? would it have to go out for a week or more for repairs? and how would i cope for a week? After all I also play my music through my Plasma (AppleTV). I turn it on when I get up and off when I go to bed.

Test yourself.

Get home from work, and dont turn on your TV or laptop. and see how long you last before you go in to mild panic, or reach for alcohol.

Brenton over at Aussielicious is currently (and still) documenting his search for a man, love, and all things great in a relationship.

Dave over at AussieSpeedoGuy has already documented his own forays in to the world of man on man, and male/male/female sex. And he and I have touched briefly on the (long, VERY long) story of my transformation in to gay man you sea (or read) here before you.

As an homage to both these great guys, and toot my own, and not insubstantial horn, I have chosen to document both more fully.

Since I am now in full on dating mode, its only natural that I focus on that, and kind of diarise events. But in the background I think I will record the events leading up to my first man date, man kiss and man relationship. oh and yeah, possibly the first break up too, if you're lucky.

Two interesting emails came through my inbox today

One from my friend Hayley - an email that has been bouncing around for a few years now, with images that I am not sure would ever get posted over at Dave Evans blog www.aussiespeedoguy.com/

The other from Aussiebum http://www.aussiebum.com.au - with an offer of free postage that might just get me buying more product.

Call me old fashioned - or maybe its just that I am a big poofter, but i like to organise my underwear in to everyday, and also 'special', 'first date', 'formal' etc.

Cos you never know when you are going to have to strip down. And of course sometimes you just want to feel a bit special, regardless of whether anyone will see em or not. And I know that Dave Evans often goes out wearing speedos under street wear, with no intention of anyone seeing, just to have that feeling of Lycra on his privates.

Of course even the everyday jocks are of high quality (CKs as a minimum).

I know I Bitch and Moan about the pitfalls of living in the worlds most isolated city.

About the Xenophobic attitudes of the locals, the kookiness of the local men and the head fucks that they constantly put you through.

About the lack of good clubs and bars, and about the high cost of drink is in those clubs. Of the high cost and low quality of meals in the restaurants.

However, I can attest to the positive effects of living here, of not going out, and of the ability to focus on 'me'. (yes - preparing for who knows what).

Since I moved here my body has transformed amazingly. And in fact if nothing else my muscles have increased so much, and my body fat reduced proportionately, to the point I am wondering how I make the next push to weight gain.

So now I have the best body I have ever had, and have no where to go out and show it off.

The Lost weekend

It all started reasonably well

I headed off to an exhibition curated by a mate, featuring photos taken using lomo cameras (http://www.lomography.com/) after which i grabbed a bite of excellent Japanese (alone) then sauntered over to the local gay bar for a look.

Met up with a mate whom I hung with all night. Chatted up a couple of guys but nothing eventuated and I ended up at home before 12.

Saturday I had a big brekky, and decided to log on to MANHUNT for the first time in months. Was immediately hit on by two very enthusiastic guys who, although certainly not gods, were appropriate both in age and intent, and I swapped numbers with both. Both chatted with me enthusiastically and of course never managed to meet me, despite assurances that they would.

Why am I bothering to by property? And work every day to pay for that property? Shouldn't I be out there having a life? Cos I don't feel I am having one now. This is limbo land. Waiting for the next chapter that never comes.

I hate this 'life'.

Headed down the beach yesterday. Awesome.

I head down to Leighton, mid way between Cottesloe and Fremantle here in Perth. This early in the season its pretty much deserted, except for the dog beach part which is manic (I so want another boxer puppy) and the parade of joggers etc.

I want Santa to bring me a digital SLR - my compact takes amazing pics, but i do need something with a powerful zoom, to snap up those unsuspecting hot bois at the beach.

This morning I rocked up for my first training session of the week with my Personal Trainer, Damo.

Damo has been training me for well over a year now. Damo is a big strapping country boy, raised on a cattle farm in the south west. Drives a gold ford SS ute with a big throaty muffler you can hear a mile away. I have never felt the need to reveal my sexuality to Damo, and certainly as a young country boy he is certainly not naive, but I don't think he has ever suspected I am gay. I am reading a couple of books by Robin Sharma - Apparently I am one of the only guys on this planet to NOT have read his books.

I first read 'The Greatness Guide' at the beginning of the year. I love to read when I go to bed, but i cant keep my eyes open for long, so The Greatness Guide with its short, sharp, no longer than 3 or 4 page chapters are perfect for me. I am now reading the book which got Robin Sharma kick started on his new career - The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari. I haven't finished it yet, and I get that its a Fable of sorts. But I don't think I am getting it as the Author Intended. But I am taking on Board some of what the book has to say.

I am Embracing 'The Ancient Rule of 21' - do things consistently for 21 days to form a new habit. I am taking the opportunity that being in a vacuous environment like Perth provides to make positive changes to who I am and the sort of man I want to be.

Meeting Ray this year was definitely attitude changing. Meeting him led me to reconsider my attitudes to being single. I saw in him the aspects of my own life that were unsatisfying. I also saw his beautiful apartment and went out and got me one of my own - bigger and better than his - nothing like a bit of healthy competition.

So now I am working hard to excel in all quadrants of my life

I have been fully focused on my goals for the first 6 months of this year, and in particular my attempt to get a 6 Pac. Its definitely hard. Since my trip to Sydney in April I havent had any alcohol - oh except for that other trip to Sydney in May. OMG.

My other Goal has been to get my finances in order - and that has been EVEN HARDER! One thing i have done is buy a small note book. From the fornt I list a whole lot of things I want to do before I die (nothing morbid in that). From the back i list my daily spending - in an attempt to develop a conscionce and actually have enough money to DO the things i want to do before I die.

Also - i went through my filing and found a bunch of doctor and dentist reciepts - and scored nearly a grand from the health insurance peeps - nice :)

I will let you know how I am going come July 1.

The arm pit - along with that bit of skin between the top of the leg and the abs, a totally forgotten or under represented eroginous zone. And totally under represented on websites dedicated to male beautty.

The armpit - mid way along the journey from the lips to the nipple.A pleasure centre for the guy with the armpit, as well as the guy who gets to attend to it.

Setting goals #3

Another needlessly uneventful weekend in Perth, reminds me that i only have 3 months left on my lease, and that I need to set up things for my move to Sydney, soon. Despite the efforts of the people i Hung with, its really starting to feel like a prison here.

I am planning a trip to Sydney in late May - B is visiting. and my office is holding a Party for the Brand Launch. Will be good to catch up. I am hoping to convince DJ to come down form Brisbane. Be nice to have the two men that mean the most to me together at the same time. And to help me map out the changes I need to get to Sydney. Or Melbourne. Maybe I can convince DJ to visit for longer than the weekend :)

If I cant get over with my current employer, I will have to shop around. Maybe time to start job hunting :)

So many choices :)

Setting goals #2

I wonder if setting goals and then changing those goals is a sign of weakness or maturity?

Earlier this year I set three goals for the forst 6 months of 2008
a six pac
invest my residual savings in to real estate and/or shares
have a dinner party once every month

The longer term goal was to move to Sydney.

Six Pack could very well happen.
Investing - waiting for the next big wall street crash - my accountant says may (no way I can afford realestate in Perth)

Dinner party - none so far.

And I am not sure that I should be focussung on Sydney necessarily. I know I want career success and I am not sure that the Sydney office can bring me that. Perth continues to be a land devoid of social opportunities. And work holds a lot of my attention (too much of late - I got a cold sore this week followed by the inevitable cold :( )

So lets re assign the Goals for this 6 months leading up to June

Career Focus

And Sydney - lets just say that the new long term goal is - Director - MELBOURNE / SYDNEY / wherever.

Jean Nouvel

Jean Nouvel first came to my attention when I visited Paris in 1987, and saw his Arab Institute on the banks of the Seine.

Last year when I visited Europe again he was a stand out, producing architecture so different from that work of 20 years earlier - notably the additions to the Reina Sophia in Madrid and the phallic Torre Agbar in Barcelona.

Jean Nouvel this year took out the Pritzker prize for architecture, one buy such other high profile architects as Frank Gehry and Zaha Hadid in the past.

Jean Nouvel was also the first architect to popularise the now cliched head to toe black out fit, and his signature bald head. He looks hot and he is 62. I hope i look that hot when I am 42.

End of summer

Saturday night saw the clocks turn back right across the country.

And it really signalled the End of Summer Officially.

And Sunday drinks in the courtyard at the Brisbane Hotel in Perth just didn't feel like Summer - a touch if chill in the Air.

This morning while at the gym we could smell the rain and now, as I write, the rain is coming down Hard. End of summer, and now in to the winter.

Finally a chance to wear those clothes I bought at the Christmas sales in New York.

Roll on cold :)

Next summer - I should be happily ensconced in Sydney.

Setting goals

I am no fan of the New Years resolution. My preference has always been to set goals, at any time of teh year. In 2008 I chose to set goals at the beginning of teh year. and to make these 6 months goals.

2007 was split neatly in to two 6 month halves.

The first half of 2007 was about finalising my work in Brisbane, about sorting out my head emotionally and clearing out my head ready for a fresh start by touring Europe and in particular Spain.

The second half of 2007 was spent across the other side of teh country, here in Perth. Focusing on my career, and consolidating it, where it is going and how I feel about it. Heading off to the US at Christmas I was really hapy about what I had acheived in 12 Months.

To continue this acheivement it is necessary now to set goals for the first 6 months of the year.

Goal setting is important. get it wrong and its not worth the paper its not writen on. The three rules of goal setting are:

write down the goal

make the goal measureable

set a time limit to the goal

And so here are mine:

by June 30 I will have a visible 6 pac - all six pacs, and a maintained body weight of 90k

by June 30 I will have invested all the residual savings from the sale of my properties in to either new properties, or in to shares. or both

by June 30 I will have held 6 dinner parties, 1 a month, in my home. at least 2 courses each.

Now you will have noticed - no mention of a man.

I saw this add from A&F which inspired me to put a post here. I have missed a whole lot of events in here - Catching up with DJ Sundance on the way to the US, my birthday, christmas, new years eve, Saying good buy to B, catching up with DJ Sundance on the way back from the states, going back to work, DJ's Birthday. ChistopherRobins birthday. phew.

And now its the year of the rat.

But for this Horse, there are three goals set for the first 6 months of 2008.

Merry Christmas

I am preparing for my HUGE Christmas break. And it will be here before I know it.

So I am taking this opportunity to wish everyone a great Christmas.

I am hoping to move forward in to this next year taking the lessons I have learnt to make 2008 the best year ever.

I have learnt that the head, heart and gut work hand in hand to shape your world.

The Head gives reason

The Gut provides instinct.

and the Heart fires passion.

For me - only the Heart expects anything in return. I have learnt that love comes in many different forms - from different people in your life. They all express their love in different ways, all unique to them selves, and the nature of the relationship you share with them.

But more than anything I have learnt that I positively love the fact that, through life's ups and downs, I am still able to enjoy the experience of loving other human beings.

To those I have loved and expressed this - you know (I hope) who you are.

To those I have hurt and those who have hurt me - I hope i still hold love for you too. Because life is way too short for regret, for hate, or for any negativity.

But the heart is nothing of not vulnerable to pain.

So in to the new year I take those who I love and who love me back. And I close the door on those who cause me suffering or pain, inadvertently or not.

I will cling fiercely to the fabulous people in my life and disregard the rest.

Because if you lay with dogs - you get fleas.

My life has taken a number of huge positive steps this year - as it has done I think for all my friends. I am lucky to have them. Very lucky.

I have also had to make some difficult decisions this year - one in particular. But even that will have a positive outcome - I am sure.

I have fallen in love. I have travelled. I have changed jobs and moved to the other side of the Country. I have re bonded with old Friends and even my family. It feels great to experience all the feelings and relish in the fact that you can.

Thanks to all my friends, just for being there, and staying there. I am looking forward to continuing our friendships through 2008.

Clean as a Whistle

In Sydney I found that my hotel was across the road from a medical centre. Oddly - I chose to get my STD check carried out - the first time since February.

No reason to be worried, but still you worry every time you get these done. What have you done in a moment of passion that could have put you at risky of catching something nasty? Had I recently had trouble urinating, or had a burning sensation when I did? nothing came to mind.

And yet I still worried.

I was almost hyper ventilating when I walked in to the doctors office. He was an older man, with a fain German accent. He pulled the results up on his monitor, then swiveled the screen away from me so I couldn't see.

'Your test for Syphilis' he said, pausing to look at me and make sure he had my attention, before raising his eyebrow.

"negative"

And so he went right through all the Tests which had been performed. All negative.

I was extremely happy. of course.

'however' he said. And I froze. You have had a shot for Hep A&B in the past - and these have dropped JUST below an acceptable level. That tends to happen about five years after a shot. You should have a booster'

I told him it had been 11 years since I had my last shot. Apparently I am extremely healthy. Still.
